This programme prepares you for your study of medicine or dentistry. It focuses on learning English and Dutch, improving your knowledge of biomedical sciences and becoming familiar with Dutch (academic) culture.

The pre-medical/pre-dental programme takes a maximum of twelve months. Top
The study of medicine is six years and consists of a three-year Bachelor’s phase and a three-year Master’s phase.

During the first week you will stay in a hotel. From there you will move to the accommodation you chose before departure. You will be approached before departure for the Netherlands to arrange this. more >> Top
You have a four-week break sometime in July and August, and the final two weeks of December are also free.

The universities will assist you where possible if problems arise. There is staff who works exclusively for the prepatory programmes. Top
In Groningen, the Msc. programme will be taught in Dutch. In Maastricht, the Msc. will be taught in English. Top
Dutch society offers full freedom to practise your religion. There are mosques in every city. The university also places a prayer room at your disposal.

The cost of living in the Netherlands depends largely on your lifestyle. You will have to pay for several things from your scholarship while you are in the Netherlands: accommodation, food, clothing and text books, for example. Be aware of the fact that the Netherlands is more expensive than Saudi Arabia when it comes to rent, food, books and leisure time activities. Problem Based Learning (short: PBL) is a learning method which focuses on teaching students theory by working on a specific case, following specific steps.
Aim of PBL is to involve the student actively in the learning process and train analytical, research and cooperation skills.
Both Maastricht University and the University of Groningen make extensive use of PBL in their (pre)medical programmes.

Weather in the Netherlands is heavily influenced by the sea climate, which makes for soft winters and humid summers (25-30˚C). Rain is quite common in the Netherlands, as is wind. Especially spring and autumn can be windy and rainy. Winters can be as cold as -10˚C during the day, but are not always sub-zero necessarily. Top
