Maastricht University
Founded in 1974, Maastricht University (UM) is the youngest university in the Netherlands. The university is internationally known for its innovative approach to education, its advanced research and its international orientation. Maastricht University pioneered Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in Europe. PBL challenges students to actively learn through working together on understanding and solving problems. UM is the most international university in the Netherlands, with English in most curricula. Thirty per cent of the students and 16 per cent of UM employees come from abroad.
