The Academic Center for Oral Health or ACMG in Dutch is part of the UMCG of the University of Groningen. The ACMG provides a 6 years programme in Dentistry and a 4 years programme in Oral Hygiene ( in collaboration with the Hanze University ). Recently the dental programme was renewed and considered the best dental education programme in the Netherlands by an International Accreditation Committee in 2006. Students also voted the programme in Groningen as the best for the last 2 years in the Elsevier competition.

The programme consists of a three-year bachelor’s phase and a three-year Master’s phase. The educational sytem is based on problem based learning (PBL). Much attention is paid to general medicine related to dentistry and scientific training. Training in a variety of dental skills starts in the well equipped Skills Lab and are in an early stage also applied in patient treatment. You will be trained to become a proficient evidence based problem solver with the right professional attitude.

The dental programme in Groningen has a strong focus on cooperation with dental hygienists. This teamapproach prepares well for general practice. Much attention is also given to rotations in different dental specialties and vocational programmes.
